The White Lady is a classic gin-based cocktail with a crisp, citrus-forward flavor. It was first created in 1919 by legendary bartender Harry MacElhone at Ciro’s Club in London. The original recipe used crème de menthe instead of gin, but when MacElhone moved to Harry’s New York Bar in Paris, he refined the drink by swapping in gin, creating the version we know today.
Another famous bartender, Harry Craddock, included a White Lady recipe in his 1930 "Savoy Cocktail Book," further solidifying its place in cocktail history.
